Pfaff Nightmares!

Does anyone have the same problem with the Pfaff sewing machine presser foot lever? It has a special position for free motion quilting which is halfway between raised and fully down for straight stitching. It's really hard to tell the difference and I can't tell you the number of times I've set off free motion quilting with the foot up - result is a spaghetti mess of thread on the back and lots of unpicking.. by the end I'm totally tense and frazzled and the quilting is dreadful. (Hand quilting is so relaxing in comparison!)
But - I will keep trying!

  1. My previous Pfaff was the same (now have a newer model where you can set it to the FMQ setting automatically)...I remember well having had the same spagetti mess, but believe me you will get used to it and with more practice will notice straight away if it is not in the right position.

  2. Yes, you are right - everything was better when I went back to the quilt later. A rest is the answer!

  3. I have 2 Pfaff's and love them but had to learn that presser foot level as my machines are older but once I got it, it has not been a problem.
