Have just finished reading this book which accompanied the exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Highly readable and recommended. It gives a fascinating overview of quilting in the British Isles.
The exhibition itself (2010) was well worth a visit ... the most poignant work was the Girl Guide Group's Changi Quilt (see above) which was made under terrible conditions by prisoners of war in Singapore. (WAQ members in Perth may remember the recent talk by one of it's makers)

Beautiful Perth, Australia

Well, this thing has taken on a life of it's own! I am loving hearing from people all over the world, strangers and friends alike - some that I have lost touch with until now and have been in contact through this blog (isn't the Internet wonderful?)
I've had so many good quilting friends over the years in Brazil, India and the UK who have, like me, moved on and I would love to hear from them again and see what they are doing now...

Beautiful Perth, Australia

I'm still a novice with this blog thing but have added a 'followers tab' for anyone interested (am not sure what this does but it seems to be the norm on other dangerously and see what happens!)

My quilts pre 2000

Just added all the quilts I've made since time began!
A trip down memory lane for me...
That makes 29 in all! Can't be so guilty after all....

crazy garden

I've had a rush of enthusiasm for quilting my crazy garden quilt and have just finished the 11th block - only 9 to go plus the borders....

I've really enjoyed planning the block quilting - It's like doodling with a needle! (note the block in the top right hasn't been quilted yet)

More work in progress

I am working on some hand appliqued Celtic blocks using Batik fabric. I've made six but thought I should decide on how many I need to make.
Was not sure how to set them together but decided on a plan and managed to draw it out at the weekend. I always find it easier to work out measurements when I have a Quilt Plan!

Favourite sites

Have just added a couple of favourite sites on my side bar.
For those who haven't come across Leah Day you must go to her Quilt Along Blog. She is an amazing machine quilter (on a domestic sewing machine) and has made numerous video tutorials. The most recent are the 'Quilt Along' series which she puts out once a week. We are up to #14 but the link on the side bar below will take you to the first one.

Have started putting pictures of my quilts in the Quilt Gallery. Have a look...

My sewing area which looks out onto my sunny balcony...

Am in the middle of quilting the Crazy Garden Quilt

Millennium Quilt started in 1999 and finished in 2008!

In the beginning.....

Not sure what I am doing but here goes....
I thought this would be a good way to let all my quilting friends around the world know the projects I am working on and what I have actually finished! Maybe this will help me get all those U.F.O's completed?
So far I have quilting pals in Brazil, England, India, Australia, USA, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands, France, South Africa, Japan and Singapore, with others in far flung places that I have lost touch with.
I'll post more photos when I have done all the chores (note I'm the guilty quilter!)
