Another Aussie Quilt

Helen Godden's technique for making small wall quilts using raw edged machine applique is very addictive. Once you get the idea, any silhouette can be used. This time I drew a cockatoo silhouette for the pattern  and I'm very pleased with the result. Shapes that have movement such as kangaroos and birds are more effective as they seem to be racing across the quilt. Also a good way to practice free motion quilting....

  1. That is beautiful...love it. The fabrics are great for the wall hanging. I think it captures not only movement but also some of the heat of the country.

  2. Hello, Cocky! What fun! After the kangaroos and cockatoos in Indigenous prints, the next step might be a non-Indigenous creature and print. Or sea creatures. Just food for thought.
