French General Fabrics

Just basted a quilt for a friend who used 'French General' fabrics by Moda in a pretty nine patch design. It looks great and is all ready for her to hand quilt.
I'm going to start working on a UFO instead so no quilting for me for a while ......

Home Quilt Show

Have been trying to get decent photos of some of my quilts and had them hanging over the rails at home to get a good view - then thought they made a good joint picture! It's really hard to show the quilting design on a photograph - just have to get the angle of the light right....

Bound and labelled!

Have put the binding on and labelled my Purple Heather Quilt and apart from checking over all the applique (found some missed stitches on the knots as they cross over each other) it is done. Now, what's next? Must get my Fremantle picture quilt done and there's plenty of other UFO's lurking in the cupboard....

Purple Heather

Have just finished quilting my 'Purple Heather' quilt (AKA Batik Celtic) and the end is in sight as I am going to put the binding on today. I quilted this one really quickly and loved the way the whole quilting design came together. Sometimes my quilts have a mind of their own and take over so that I end up with a quilt that has evolved along the way.

Another Aussie Quilt

Helen Godden's technique for making small wall quilts using raw edged machine applique is very addictive. Once you get the idea, any silhouette can be used. This time I drew a cockatoo silhouette for the pattern  and I'm very pleased with the result. Shapes that have movement such as kangaroos and birds are more effective as they seem to be racing across the quilt. Also a good way to practice free motion quilting....
