Fair Wind and Following Seas

Haven't posted for months, mainly because I've been working on two quilts which are destined for competition and I wanted to keep them under wraps until the respective shows.
Here is the first quilt which was entered in the Bunbury Challenge 2014 and on show this weekend...

The Theme was 'Nautical' and I chose the figurehead for my design.

I used Gloria Loughman's technique for invisible machine applique which gives the impression of needle turn applique.

  1. Love you quilt..... Great idea using a figurehead....

  2. Goodness, Phil, you have been busy! What amazing detail!

  3. That's why I haven't posted anything for ages. Poor Dear Jane has become a UFO!
I'm quite pleased with the result and my machine quilting is improving...

  4. Wow, wow, wow! What a great quilt Phil. It is obvious how much time & effort has gone into both your designing process & the quilt. How many hours did it take you to quilt all that? A huge achievement, well done. Can't wait to see the next one. Cheers, Tracy xx
