Miniature Workshop

Before guest judging QuiltWest, Jane Gibson held a miniatures workshop and here is my finished feathered star quilt. It measures 12" square!
Working on such a small scale means every mistake shows up but I'm happy with the result...

Close Ups!

I just love the ribbons... but I'm thrilled to have won the Val Meyerink Trophy most of all (read the explanation below).

I Remember When...

This is my other quilt which also won a 1st Prize. The theme title was 'I Remember When....' and my quilt is called '...the World was Black and White...' (although she seems to be called 'TV Girl' most of the time).

QuiltWest Wins

Had an exciting day today at our West Australian Quilt Show. I won two first prizes for two of my quilts plus two major awards - 'Best use of Colour' and the Val Meyerink Trophy for hand appliqué and quilting (for my 'Dear Angela' quilt).

Sweet sixteen

Big change coming in my sewing room as I'm about to introduce a Sweet Sixteen to the family! A friend has very kindly decided to sell her machine and after thinking about it for five minutes and getting marital approval I said yes please. I've just finished machine quilting a small wall quilt on my janome horizon and was a little frustrated with the whole process ( visibility, tension fluctuations and so on) so that helped make the decision.
So watch this space!
